Joe Nelms

Founder/Creative Director

Joe is an award-winning writer and Creative Director who has worked in senior positions at a number of entertainment advertising agencies including Maude, Tilted, and Charmed where he worked on properties including Sons of Anarchy, Archer, Salem, American Horror Story, and Al Jazeera America.

He has also worked at several traditional advertising agencies including BBDO, DMB&B, and Grey on accounts like McDonald’s, Ford, Pepsi, Visa, and GE. 

Joe spent several years as Vice President, Advertising at Warner Bros. Films where he helped market over one hundred movies including Harry Potter, The Ocean’s 11 series, and The Matrix series.

In addition to a long career in advertising, Joe is a playwright, screenwriter, and novelist.

His drama Burning House was named Finalist for Best Play at New York Theater Festivals’ 2020 Winterfest. He helped produce the dark comedy BFF, which was a Finalist for Best Play at Winterfest in 2019. His plays Zoom and Plus One have recently been featured in Theater Resources Unlimited TRUSpeak benefit and the Westchester Review. 

His film credits include Producer on the Sundance drama division finalist Between and co-Writer/Producer of the films The Lost Episode and the cult classic Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The 13th. He is also the former Artistic Director and Executive Producer of sketch comedy stage show and NBC series Live On Tape.

Joe is the author of the novels The Last Time I Died and Formerly Fingerman, both published by Simon & Schuster.
